The EGC Group has been named as recipient of the prestigious 2025 PR Campaign of the Year Award from Public Relations Professionals of Long Island (PRPLI). This distinction comes from PR efforts dedicated to the Detective Jonathan Diller Scholarship Fund. Late last year, EGC Founder Ernie Canadeo and Public Relations Manager Christopher Collora undertook a pro bono public relations campaign to honor the memory of Detective Jonathan Diller. Detective Diller was killed in the line of duty while conducting a traffic stop in Queens, NY. The goal was to promote a scholarship fund to help students of St. Mary’s High School (Detective Diller’s alma mater) receive an affordable education. The Impact The Detective Jonathan Diller Scholarship Fund received coverage in a wide range of news outlets. These included CBS 2, ABC 7, Pix 11, 1010 WINS, News 12, the New York Post, Greater Long Island, Patch, Newsday, News12, and Herald Community Newspapers. Significantly, these outlets were based not only on Long Island but Manhattan as well. Reaching Beyond Long Island The PR results of this campaign went beyond expectations. The fundraising event was held at Mulcahy’s Pub & Concert Hall in Wantagh, NY. Awareness, however, went beyond Long Island. Attendees included fellow officers and detectives from the New York Police Department (NYPD). Additionally, members of the New York Fire Department (NYFD) were also in attendance. They were among many who paid tribute to Detective Diller and generously donated to the fund. Post-Campaign Results The Detective Jonathan Diller Scholarship Fund received over $70,000—in just under two months. Such a successful campaign did not go unnoticed. Generally, there is a high degree of competition in the public relations space. EGC is therefore proud and humbled at having won PRPLI’s 2025 PR Campaign of the Year Award. The presentation ceremony will be held at a celebratory Awards Luncheon on May 14 at Westbury Manor (1100 Jericho Turnpike, Westbury, NY 11590).
