By Jonathan Baker Google Marketing Live 2025, the iconic tech company’s annual flagship event, took place last month. A host of improvements to existing features, along with new capabilities, are in store to benefit everyone from marketers to creators. AI—Here, There, and Everywhere at Google Among the main highlights of this event was the planned application of artificial intelligence (AI) to the four pillars—Search, Creative, Measurement, Agentic Capabilities—that make up Google’s foundation. Select key points for each include: Search As observed by Brooke Osmundson in Search Engine Journal, Google’s updates to search will signal the end of traditional keyword-first search strategies. AI Overviews will soon feature ads on desktop computers in addition to mobile devices. Google’s chatbot, Gemini, will soon conduct more detailed conversations with users (read consumers) in the journey from browsing to purchasing. True to its name, updates to AI Max will enhance creative and targeting capabilities. As ads are transitioning to exploratory formats, Google is zeroing in on improved and more transparent labeling of ads. Google Ads has added a toggle setting for search campaigns that will help marketers capture added conversions they missed due to restrictions on bidding. Creative Where creativity is concerned, Google’s focus was the simplifying and scaling of asset production. Advertisers using Demand Gen campaigns will appreciate the integration of Google Maps. Now, will find users who search for brands and businesses via Promoted Pins. A new Creator Partnership central hub enables creators to work within the Google Ads interface. By extension, this will help advertisers integrate creator and influencer content into promotion strategies. Ad placements are now shoppable, leading to increased traffic and conversions, thanks to enhancements to YouTube’s mobile Masthead. In an age where connected television (CTV) is on the rise, the ability for consumers to interact with products on their screens has never been timelier with the advent of shoppable CTV. Creating everything from brand images to videos will streamline through AI Tools in Product Studio. Measurement Discovering insights on a more granular level and enhanced data-drive decision-making is now possible with Google’s new, improved measurement tools. There are new adjustments to incremental testing on Google Ads, and the threshold will be $5,000 per test. (The price used to have a threshold of $100,000.) Through attributed searches, brands can quantify the number of users who searched them after having watched a video ad that highlighted their products or services. In the interests of cost-effectiveness and predictions for success, campaign budgets easier to plan via the Meridian Scenario Planner. Google Analytics is improving the management of cross-channel budgets, encompassing ad performance, spend, and optimization. Advertisers who have adopted and embraced first-party data within the last several years will value updates to Google’s Ad Manager. These first-party sources provide clearer insight into data strength and ad optimization. Agentic Capabilities The agentic capabilities—where AI systems conduct specific tasks, and without human interaction—to achieve specific goals were perhaps the most revolutionary demonstrations at Google Live 2025. An automated agent, complete with voice interaction, is now available in Chrome to solve problems, complete designated tasks, and offer business-related advice. This is Google’s Marketing Advisor. Imagine streamlining creation, efficiently improving performance, and applying recommended revisions to campaign and business data—that already exists. The Google Ads Expert makes this imagining a reality. Going beyond Google Ads Expert, another innovation reviews a brand’s campaign data from Google Analytics and provides strategic recommendations to improve performance. While still in beta mode, marketers and advertisers will soon utilize Google Analytics everywhere. Google’s updates and innovations are indeed ‘alive and kicking.’ They are impressive—and perhaps overwhelming. If you are concerned about not keeping up with these advances, give EGC a call.
