Conducting an online search is practically synonymous with Google. Who hasn’t heard the phrase—“Google it”—before entering a question or keyword in the iconic engine’s search bar? But what about Bing? You know, the “other” search engine? Find out the worthwhile benefits of utilizing Bing in search.

Not a competition

First, this blog is not meant as a competition of which search engine is better. If you currently use Google for brand marketing—and are successful—continue. (Considering the preview of Google-related tools presented at Google I/O 2024, this engine will no doubt continue to bring great results.) This is simply an explanation of interesting exclusive Bing features that might enhance online results for your brand or business. Ready?

Unique algorithm

If you’re used to searching via Google and are curious about trying Bing, be aware that the algorithms of each search engine are different. This means that if you conduct a search on Bing—for something that you once sought out on Google—the results that appear will likely be different.

The Microsoft connection

As social media sites Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are all part of Meta, search engine Bing was engineered by tech giant Microsoft. This means that all other Microsoft-related products—from Windows to Edge—are easily integrated into Bing and are readily available for you.

Search via image

Bing provides a strong, wide-ranging collection in its “visual search feature” that enables you to search for something via image. All of these images are very high in quality and complemented by detailed descriptions. This is especially helpful when searching for a particular product, branded image, or place.

Mighty multimedia

Additionally, Bing takes the “visual search” feature further by calling up video as well as interactive elements in the results page, making the process of conducting a search not only informative but (dare we say it?) entertaining.

Rewards

Have you ever heard of a search engine rewarding users—just because they typed information in its search bar to find information? Bing does. Yes, users may collect points for simply searching on Bing and then apply them to a variety of rewards that include discounts, donations, and gift cards.

Maximized reach

Angela Mertz, VP of Integrated Media at EGC, offers one final note about the benefits of Bing:

“Incorporating Bing into your search campaigns is crucial for maximizing reach and tapping into a unique user base. Bing’s distinct features and integration with Microsoft’s ecosystem can provide a competitive edge in your digital marketing strategy.”
